‘Orthotics is the provision of custom or prefabricated devices (orthoses) that are designed to externally apply corrective forces and support to the human body’.
At SPAO we supply and manufacture a complete range of custom made and prefabricated upper and lower extremity orthotic devices at our facility in Unanderra, these include:
Custom Made
All custom made orthoses are made from casts, measurements and/or tracings. These are made from high quality components and materials specifically chosen for individual clients needs.
Our custom made range includes:
- Thermoplastic orthoses
- Long and short leg callipers
- Custom made in-shoe foot orthotics (arch supports)
- Back braces, surgical corsets and hernia braces
- Silicone Ankle Foot Orthoses (SAFO)
- Custom made knee orthoses (Townsend)
In addition, our innovative team can design, make or customise any orthosis to meet your specific needs.
SPAO is the Australian authorised representative of Dorset Orthopaedic in the UK. Dorset is the market leader in high quality cosmetic and functional Silicone Ankle Foot Orthoses (SAFO). We are proud to be associated with Dorset who are internationally renowned and sought after for their cosmetic orthopaedic devices.
As an authorised supplier of Townsend Design, we can provide custom made functional knee orthoses for conditions including osteoarthritis (OA) and ligament damage. We also supply post-operative and sports braces.
Prefabricated
Prefabricated orthoses are made from high quality components and materials and professionally fitted by our qualified orthotists.
Our prefabricated range includes:
- Silicone in-shoe foot orthotics (arch supports)
- Back braces, surgical corsets and hernia truss’s
- Maternity support brace
- Prefabricated knee orthoses and supports
- Bed resting orthoses
- Fracture bracing including CAM walkers
- Shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, ankle and numerous other joint braces and supports
Orthopaedic Shoes
SPAO has a fitting range of specialised shoes and boots. Your shoes will be ordered on an individual basis from various national and international companies.
These shoes can accommodate people who require extra depth and extra width footwear. Shoes can also be supplied that cater for conditions including:
- The diabetic foot
- Bunions
- Charcot feet
- Oedema (swelling)
Compression Garments
SPAO provide graduated compression garments for upper and lower limbs. They are used in the preventative and therapeutic treatment of conditions including:
- Venous Insufficiency
- Lymphoedema (swelling)
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Varicose veins
We are an authorised provider of orthoses to all eligible Program of Appliances for Disabled People (PADP) clients. We also supply devices to compensable clients covered by insurance as well as to private individuals.
