The treatment process - Lower Limb Prostheses
The success of a fitting is dependent on a variety of factors and requires a holistic approach. At SPAO we offer you integrated and personal support within the rehabilitation team. Our technical expertise not only covers a wide knowledge of products and materials, but also includes the individual adaption of your device to optimise the functional outcome.
Treatment Process Circle - Leg Protheses
1. Initial Consultation
In the initial consultation your SPAO prosthetist will discuss your treatment process, learn about our services and we encourage you to take this opportunity to ask questions you may have about the fitting process. Your prosthetist will also take this opportunity to talk to you about your goals and discuss your funding options.
SPAO will help you locate a physiotherapist if you do not have one
3. Prosthetic Design
This is where you work with your clinician in designing the prosthesis that best suits your goals, personal objectives, lifestyle and funding.
The prosthetist takes your individual body measurements.
Fabrication of your custom prosthesis follows.
During the fitting, the prosthetist adapts the prosthesis to your individual needs. This process will typically take place over 2-3 appointments.
Here you learn how to correctly handle the prosthesis in daily life. The SPAO team can help direct you to rehabilitation providers in your area.
8. Quality check
Together we can discuss your progress.
SPAO maintains continuous contact with you.
